Before you schedule
A little preparation.
A smoother visit.
Vehicle and personal-property retrieval have different requirements. Start here so your team can process the right request.
- 01
Have your details ready.
Find the last six digits of your VIN. Provide a mobile number or email so we can reach you about your appointment.
- 02
Confirm what you’re collecting.
Vehicles need a release sent directly by the lender. Personal property does not require a lender release and is stored for 60 days.
- 03
Review the visit requirements.
Bring the appropriate identification, plan to arrive 15 minutes early, and wait for your final confirmation and location.

Know before you go.
How do I arrange a vehicle release?+
Contact your lender and request a Vehicle Release (VRR). Your lender must send it directly to Tri-State Recovery by email. Only the registered owner or an authorized third party listed on the release can redeem the vehicle.
Do I need a release for personal property?+
No lender release is required for personal-property retrieval. Personal property is stored for 60 days. Bring your keys to avoid potential additional fees from your lender, plus bags or totes to carry your belongings.
What if I don’t know my VIN?+
You will need the last six digits of your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Contact your bank or lienholder, or check your insurance ID card.
When will my appointment be confirmed?+
Your initial scheduling confirmation is preliminary. Files are reviewed within three business hours, Monday–Friday. Requests outside business hours receive an initial confirmation the following business day. Final confirmation is sent the evening before your approved appointment, after the required paperwork has been reviewed. If the lender has not provided its release, contact your lender about what is still needed.
Where do I go for my appointment?+
The lot address is provided only with your final confirmation, sent the evening before your approved appointment. Wait for that confirmation before traveling.
What identification do I need?+
For a vehicle redemption, bring a valid, unexpired driver’s license. If you only have a government-issued photo ID, bring a licensed driver with a valid driver’s license. For personal-property retrieval, a government-issued photo ID is sufficient.
How do payments and fees work?+
Payment is by debit or credit card only; cash is not accepted. Redemption costs cannot be quoted until Tri-State Recovery receives the lender’s Vehicle Release document and all fees are paid in full. Your contact information is used to communicate fees and appointment details.
What if I’m running late?+
Arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. There is a 15-minute grace period; if you expect to be more than 15 minutes late, reschedule. Walk-ins and same-day redemptions are not available.
Can I bring other people?+
Due to limited space, limit the number of people accompanying you and refrain from bringing children. Follow the instructions in your final confirmation.
